Abstract

The region's diverse natural and cultural attractions play a crucial role in drawing tourists, yet an overflow of visitors beyond rural capacities poses a threat to these areas. The rise in tourist numbers also puts the natural and cultural landscapes at risk of serious damage. Palangan village in Uramanat region boasts a variety of tourist attractions, such as rural architecture, pristine nature, and cultural customs, making it a popular destination. However, the excessive presence of tourists has led to potential harm to both the natural and cultural aspects of the village. Implementing rural development plans with a landscape approach that cater to user needs while safeguarding cultural and natural ecosystems can enhance tourism prospects. This study focuses on village planning and design solutions with a landscape approach to balance stakeholder interests and minimize negative impacts on nature and rural culture. By analyzing successful methods and aligning with field study findings, the research aims to address the Doxy Index of Tourist Irritation. The research findings emphasize the necessity of a holistic approach to tourism development in Palangan, taking into account the livelihoods of the local community, nature and ecosystems, local culture, tourist needs, and the tourism capacity within a comprehensive framework.
